I grew up as the scapegoat and invisible child in a covertly narcissistic family.
I didn’t learn about shame from a book. I learned it from carrying my family’s intergenerational shame my whole life, hating my body, hating myself, and believing there was something irredeemably wrong with me.
That stayed until I realized: shame is a parasite, not a personality. And I built a framework to dismantle it from the inside out. The inner critic isn’t a wounded child trying to protect you.It ticks every box of a covert narcissist, but the call is coming from inside the house.
“Who do you think you are?
You can’t do this.”
My mother told me I couldn’t do lots of things, not to protect me, but because my dreaming made her anxious.
The inner critic does the exact same thing.
We don’t need criticism. We need feedback. That’s the paradigm shift.
Shame is never for the benefit of the person being shamed. It’s always for the comfort of the shamer.
It creates compliance, not learning.
It doesn’t teach you why. It just teaches you: “If I’m authentic, I’ll be shamed, so I need to stop.”

Break the Shame Loop Masterclass - $27 USD (Recorded Workshop)
A 2-hour practical session to help you recognize real-time behavioral patterns, interrupt shame spirals, and step back into clear agency.
Outcomes
Stay upright under scrutiny
Stop taking things personally
Start dismantling shame-based survival patterns in yourself and the systems you lead
Framework
I call the internal shame control voice (aka the inner critic) a hierarchy enforcer which uses urgency, humiliation, and self-doubt to keep you compliant.
B.R.E.A.K. interrupts the loop where it actually lives: in your nervous system.
Key distinction: Criticism isn’t shame. Shame is an internal collapse; shaming is relational, hierarchical enforcement. My work teaches leaders to receive feedback, recognize covert shaming, and move without freezing or bypassing.
